The Jets and Chiefs each lost starting safeties in Sunday's game: New York's Jim Leonhard and Kansas City's Jon McGraw.

Leonhard was scheduled to have an MRI exam on his right knee Monday to determine the severity of the injury after being hurt making an interception in the second quarter of the Jets' 37-10 victory. Several teammates feared it could be a season-ending injury.

''I'm hopeful it's not that bad,'' coach Rex Ryan said, ''but it's never good when you need help coming off.''

Leonhard was hurt when he intercepted a pass by Tyler Palko intended for Steve Breaston, and the Chiefs wide receiver made a twisting tackle. Leonhard immediately reached for his leg in pain before being helped to the sideline by two trainers and then carted into the locker room.

While the team said it would wait until getting the MRI results to make an official determination, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis mentioned he ''did hear something on the sideline that (Leonhard) might be out for the season. That's almost like repeating last season again.''

In 2010, Leonhard broke his right leg in a collision with teammate Patrick Turner during practice in early December and had surgery on Dec. 3. He missed the remainder of the schedule.

Revis said Sunday he had not spoken with Leonhard nor heard any official word on the injury.

''Injuries happen throughout the season,'' Revis said. ''It's just a weird moment of this repeating again and Jim maybe out again.''

McGraw left a series earlier than Leonhard with a left ankle injury and didn't return.

Chiefs defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey limped off a few plays after Leonhard was hurt with an apparent right leg problem. But Dorsey returned to the game.
