Bills' Fitzpatrick, Jets' Tomlinson inactive

Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was inactive for the team's regular-season finale Sunday against the New York Jets after missing practice all week with a right knee injury.

Brian Brohm, a former second-round pick of Green Bay in 2008, made his second NFL start for the Bills in Fitzpatrick's place. Fitzpatrick was listed as Buffalo's emergency quarterback.

Buffalo wide receivers Donald Jones (head) and David Nelson (ribs) were also inactive, as were defensive tackle Kellen Heard, tight end Mike Caussin, defensive end John McCargo and offensive linemen Ed Wang and Colin Brown.

The Jets, who have already clinched a playoff spot, took the opportunity to rest several veterans, as expected, including running backs LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene, and cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie.

Tomlinson finishes his first season with the Jets 86 yards rushing short of his ninth 1,000-yard season. Rookie Joe McKnight got his first NFL start at running back.

Rookie Kyle Wilson started in Revis' spot in the secondary, while Marquice Cole filled in for Cromartie.

Quarterback Mark Sanchez, dealing with a sore shoulder, is starting for the Jets, but is not expected to play long. He was injured in the Jets' 22-17 win at Pittsburgh two weeks ago, but performed well while playing most of that game with a sore shoulder. He was solid again last week in New York's 38-34 loss at Chicago, despite being limited in practice.

The other inactive players for the Jets were: right tackle Damien Woody (right knee) and safeties Eric Smith (concussion) and James Ihedigbo (right knee). Kellen Clemens was the No. 3 quarterback.
