Jaguars draft 28-year-old Pendleton in 7th round

The Jacksonville Jaguars have drafted 28-year-old defensive tackle Jeris Pendleton in the seventh round.
The team has an unsettled situation at defensive tackle, with Tyson Alualu coming off knee surgery and fellow starter Terrance Knighton out for the majority of the offseason following eye surgery.
Pendleton is a 328-pound run-stopper who wanted to attend Michigan State out of high school in Chicago. His grades slipped, he had a child with his girlfriend and ended up working a few years before making it to college. He enrolled at Joliet Community College in Illinois and later transferred to Ashland University in Ohio.
Pendleton says he was considering signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie. General manager Gene Smith didn't want to take that chance, so he used his final pick on Pendleton.
