The Cleveland Browns reached an agreement on Thursday with former St. Louis tackle Ryan Tucker, sources close to the Browns said. Tucker's agent Joe Coletta, who confirmed the settlement, said a contract has not been finalized and declined to provide specifics — though he said it is a four-year deal. A source close to the Rams said he heard the contract is valued at an estimated $9 million, with a $2.6 million signing bonus. "Ryan's excited," said Coletta. "It's an excellent opportunity, and he likes the organization." Tucker started 31 of 32 regular-season games the past two years but was replaced by Rod Jones in the playoffs after Tucker injured his ankle. Though he recovered by Super Bowl XXXVI, he did not start the game. A physical player with good size (he's 6-foot-5, 305 pounds), Tucker played center and guard before landing at right tackle in St. Louis. He is the third addition in three days for Cleveland, which signed defensive lineman Kenard Lang and defensive back Robert Griffith, and he probably ends the Browns' interest in free-agent Victor Riley. Riley played right tackle for Kansas City, and for Cleveland to add him Tucker probably would have to move to right guard. The Browns are determined to improve the league's 31st-ranked rushing attack, and they plan to start with an offensive line they deemed inadequate. Interested in free-agent tackle Todd Weiner, they turned their attention to Tucker after Weiner on Wednesday agreed to a five-year, $17.5 million offer with Atlanta. Tucker's departure leaves Jones and John St. Clair as the Rams' right tackles. Clark Judge can be reached at his e-mail address, cjudge@foxsports.com.
