Broncos grant $50K to wildfire relief
The Denver Broncos on Wednesday pledged $50,000 to assist relief efforts as wildfires continued to burn across Colorado.
Hundreds of homes have been destroyed by the fires, with more than 32,000 people forced to evacuate.
"This is our home, and we need to do whatever we can to take care of our neighbors. If at all possible, I encourage our fans to help however they can in providing relief during this time of need," Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said in a statement.
"On behalf of the Denver Broncos, I extend our deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by the devastating fires throughout Colorado and the region.
"In particular, my thoughts are with those who have lost their homes or live in the evacuation areas."
A fire raging in forest land near Colorado Springs has consumed more than 5,000 acres since it began Saturday, while a separate blaze near Fort Collins already ranks among the worst in state history, destroying more than 250 homes and causing the death of a woman whose home was engulfed by flames soon after the fire began June 9, The Wall Street Journal reported.
