Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has finally spoken with Dez Bryant about the receiver's recent arrest.

Arrests

TROUBLE WITH THE LAW

The 2013 offseason was a rough one for NFL players and the law. Take a look back at the players arrested before camp ever opened.

Jones said after practice Tuesday that he had talked extensively with Bryant, who was arrested July 16 for allegedly assaulting his mother.

While calling it a great visit, Jones didn't elaborate on the details of the conversation that the owner had deliberately delayed.

''One of the reasons I didn't (earlier), because I didn't want to talk to him emotionally. ... I was disappointed,'' Jones said. ''As a daddy sometimes you're not supposed to spank when you're mad. I wanted to get the information, but also wanted to get my mind right so that we could really have a good talk about this.''

Bryant, the 2010 first-round pick, still could face NFL or team discipline even though his mother, who made a 911 call, has since said that she doesn't want authorities to pursue family violence charges against her son.

During the team's camp-opening news conference Sunday, Jones called it a ''very serious'' situation. But at that time, he hadn't talked to Bryant and said he didn't know why.

Bryant hasn't been available for interviews because of pending legal issues, and still the possibility of discipline.

Asked if he felt better about the situation, Jones responded, ''I don't have a feeling one way or another, but we have talked.''

On the field, Jones said Bryant was very impressive during the first two days of practice and was working hard despite having big blisters on both of his feet.

Jones also said running back Felix Jones, receiver Andre Holmes and newly acquired safety Brodney Pool would get another chance at their conditioning tests Wednesday.

The three haven't been cleared to practice since failing Sunday in the initial test, a series of timed dashes.

Jones said he believes Jones, who is coming off shoulder surgery, ''probably was dehydrated'' during the first shot at the test.
