He's hanging up his spikes … for now.

Respected veteran QB Chad Pennington is taking a year off from football and will join NFL on FOX game broadcasts starting this fall on a one-year contract. He'll be partnered up with Sam Rosen and will bring his considerable knowledge attained after an 11-year professional career to the booth.

Pennington, 35, played for the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, amassing 17,823 yards passing with 102 touchdown passes. He was twice named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year and his career completion percentage of 66.0 is the highest in NFL history among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 attempts.
