TEMPE, Ariz. (AP)

Arizona safety Kerry Rhodes has confirmed he had a run-in with teammate Darnell Dockett at the end of Sunday's game against the New York Jets but said reports that Dockett had spit in his face were wrong.

''Yes, we had a disagreement on the field but, no he did NOT spit in my face. Absolutely did not,'' Rhodes said in an email released by the Cardinals. ''I'm not going to get into all the details because I think those are things you keep within the team. But Darnell and I talked after the game, we're both moving on and I'll leave it at that.''

The dispute reportedly centered on the Cardinals' desire to allow the Jets to score late in the game so the offense would get the ball to go for the tying score. Dockett didn't want to allow a touchdown.

The issue became moot when Shonn Greene purposely downed the ball at the Arizona 1-yard line and the Jets ran out the clock for a 7-6 victory.

The incident occurred at the end of an ugly game in which the Cardinals defense played well but the offense was horrible. It was Arizona's eighth loss in a row.

Dockett had a series of tweets that referred to the case. Although he did not get into specifics, he wrote that there are ''two sides to every story.''

''I can't tell y'all the truth or how I feel cuz they watching my tweets,'' Dockett wrote. ''Oh and by the way when I'm wrong I say it. Just FYI.''

In a tweet Tuesday that included a link to The Arizona Republic story on the matter, Dockett wrote that the truth always surfaces.

When asked about the incident in a radio interview, coach Ken Whisenhunt said such matters are dealt with internally.
