Bears sign QB Trent Edwards

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP)

The Bears signed QB Trent Edwards to a one-year contract and waived WR Jerrell Jackson.

Edwards has started 33 games in a five-season career with Buffalo, Jacksonville, Oakland and Philadelphia. The former Stanford quarterback has more than 6,000 yards passing, with 26 TDs and 30 interceptions in his career.

Originally a third-round selection by the Bills, he is 14-19 as a starter.
