Art Rooney II takes over as president of Steelers

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Art Rooney II has replaced his father Dan Rooney as president of the Pittsburgh , according to a published report. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday that the transition was made very quietly, and there was little to note - except for barely noticeable changes in the ' media guide. "I just thought it was time," Dan Rooney told the newspaper. "Art has been involved with a lot of the business of the team. He was very much involved in the building of Heinz Field." Dan Rooney, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000, took over the team from founder Art Rooney Sr. in 1975. Last season, Pittsburgh won the AFC North Division with a 10-5-1 record. After defeating Cleveland, 36-33, in a wild card contest, the lost in overtime, 34-31, to Tennessee in a divisional playoff matchup.
