What’s amazing about the Green Bay Packers’ run to the Super Bowl crown is had they not beaten the visiting Chicago Bears at home in Week 17, they would not have qualified for the playoffs. But they took advantage of their chances and proved they were the NFL’s best team in the end.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a very worthy No. 2 team because they are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball. They very well could be back on the national stage next February — that’s of course if there is football next season.

The Steelers have built their roster with players that they have developed over time, not through free agency. This is the same approach the Packers have taken, so Pittsburgh should be a solid playoff contender year after year.

Out of their scheduled 18 free agents, about 10-12 of them are key players from both sides of the ball. So the Jets will have some tough decisions coming up. But the good thing is they are set at quarterback, running back and on defense.

Their abrupt exit in the playoffs probably was an eye-opener for some, but the Falcons need to address some issues on both sides of the ball going forward. They need another playmaker at the wide receiver position and a few more pass rushers on defense.

I’ve been saying for months that the Ravens need to find downfield passing threats. Nothing was more evident than that during their loss to the Steelers. Once they find those options, they will have a much more diversified passing game.

Depth is an issue at various positions on both sides of the ball, but the Bears are set up to be a very competitive team in the future. The job offensive line coach Mike Tice did last season was amazing, but that part of the team still must be addressed.

That loss to the Seahawks in the playoffs might have opened up a can of worms for the Saints. They need to make some upgrades on the front seven of their defense. The tackling was terrible in that game, but better talent could solve that issue.
