The New England Patriots showed the NFL world why they are the No. 1 team at this point after their thrashing of the host Buffalo Bills last week. They've already sewn up the No. 1 seed in the AFC and are playing at the top of their game at a critical juncture. It will be interesting to see if any other teams in the AFC can challenge them during the playoffs. But it won't be easy since the Patriots are undefeated at home this season.

In the NFC, the Atlanta Falcons finally lost a game at home, but it wasn't as though the New Orleans Saints were dominant. That game could have gone either way. The Falcons still deserve to be the NFC's top-ranked team at this point based on their performance over the course of the season.

After a slow start, the Giants have turned their season around. While they have some injury issues to be concerned with on both sides of the ball, this team is not only the best in the NFC, it's easily one of the top five in the NFL. The balance the Giants are getting on offense is a big reason why they are winning, but the resurgence of their defense can't be underestimated.Collapse Description

It was a bit surprising that they lost to the Packers at home considering the injury issues that team has been dealing with all season. Perhaps the Jets aren't as good as we thought they were? Considering the Jets were coming off their bye, it's not a particularly good sign. When their running game struggles as it did last week, they're going to have trouble winning.Collapse Description

The win over the lowly Bills last week is the kind of game that the Chiefs probably would have lost last season. While it's debatable whether they are the NFL's most surprising team this season, they certainly have to be considered one of the most improved. If they run the ball over 30 times in any game, they likely will win. It will be hard for defenses to stop the NFL's best rushing duo in Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles.Collapse Description
