News: Ballard has a torn Achilles, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports. Impact: He was carted off the field earlier Friday, and this is certainly the worst possible outcome for Ballard and the Colts. He was in the mix at running back, but it's now a distinct two-man competition between Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw. Ballard will likely miss the entire 2014-15 season, and this bolsters the value of the Colts' other main running backs.(RotoWire, )

News: Ballard is undergoing an MRI on his lower left leg, Colts.com's Kevin Bowen reports. Impact: That the MRI is occurring in his lower leg would seem to hint that his knee isn't the concern, but rather the ankle region. This is consistent with the initial reports surrounding Ballard's injury, as a variety of reporters suspected the injury looked ankle-related as Ballard was carted out of practice. We'll watch for clarification on his status.(RotoWire, )

News: Ballard (ankle) was carted out of practice Friday, Indianapolis Star writer Mike Chappell reports. Impact: It's too early to reach any overly gloomy conclusions, but the fact that a cart was involved would seem to imply that Ballard may be dealing with a sprain of some sort. We'll watch for updates on his condition.(RotoWire, )

News: Ballard (knee) indicated that he's been cleared for football activities, Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star reports. Impact: While Ballard -- who tore his ACL in Week 2 of last season -- expects the Colts to limit his workload early on in training camp, he appears healthy enough out of the gate to jostle for slotting in the team's backfield along with Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw.(RotoWire, )
