News: Griffin (ankle) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Cowboys. Impact: Griffin was able to practice in a limited capacity throughout the week, suggesting a return on the horizon, though coach Jay Gruden reiterated Friday that the team is preparing as if Colt McCoy will start against Dallas. Meanwhile, Griffin stressed that he won't play until his dislocated ankle is completely healthy, so while there is a chance he could be a surprise omission from the team's inactive list Monday, most owners will likely want to play it safe and start their alternative in Week 8.(RotoWire, )

News: Although Griffin (ankle) was a limited practice participant Friday, Washington still plans to start Colt McCoy against Dallas on Monday, the Washington Post reports. Impact: Griffin's return is likely imminent regardless of whether McCoy plays well against Dallas on Monday, but for now it does appear that McCoy will at least get Monday's game for an extended audition. Unfortunately for Griffin owners and those looking to stream McCoy this week, the situation might not get conclusively settled until Monday.(RotoWire, )

News: Coach Jay Gruden won't make a decision on active status for Griffin (ankle) until one hour before Monday's 8:30 PM ET kickoff at Dallas, reports. Impact: Griffin is "steadily progressing" in his recovery, according to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Network, but Thursday morning has come and gone without a definitive report from Gruden on the quarterback's left ankle. Nevertheless, Gruden all but confirmed Colt McCoy as Monday's starter, stating "oh yeah" when queried. While McCoy seems certain to be under center Monday, Griffin himself logged a second limited practice in a row Thursday, which included a handful of first-team reps. As his health allows for additional practice reps, though, Gruden will have to walk a tight rope of keeping McCoy in the loop while ensuring Griffin is growing accustomed to live action once again.(RotoWire, )

News: Coach Jay Gruden indicated that Griffin is progressing and did some team drills at practice Wednesday, but suggested that "the big thing" will be how the quarterback's ankle feels Thursday morning, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports. Impact: While the strides that Griffin has made are promising, Gruden doesn't sound inclined to rush the QB back at this stage, noting Wednesday, "if it's another week, two weeks after the bye, so be it." For now, it appears that Washington is preparing as though Colt McCoy will start Monday's game against Dallas, with Gruden adding Wednesday that he would like to have a determination with regard to his team's Week 8 signal-caller by Thursday afternoon.(RotoWire, )

News: While coach Jay Gruden said Monday that he can't yet rule Griffin (ankle) out for Week 8, he noted on that front that the QB "has a long way to go. He has a lot to show," Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports. Impact: Moreover, Gruden relayed that if Griffin doesn't start next Monday's game against Dallas -- which seems like a plausible outcome at this stage -- then Colt McCoy would draw the nod at QB over Kirk Cousins.(RotoWire, )

News: Griffin (ankle) is expected to return to practice Wednesday, the Washington Post reports. He's been out since dislocating his ankle on Sept. 14. Coach Jay Gruden has stated in the past that he wants to see Griffin practice for two weeks before putting him back on the field. Impact: The team plans to put Griffin through a rigorous workout this week to see how the ankle responds. At this stage, it seems unlikely that he'll return to the Washington lineup this coming weekend, with a potential Week 9 return against Minnesota appearing to be a more plausible scenario. We'll let you know, however, if that assessment changes in the coming days.(RotoWire, )

News: Griffin (ankle) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Washington's official site reports. Afterward, coach Jay Gruden told that Griffin will retain his starting job upon receiving clearance to play. Impact: Griffin's activity was contained to individual drills, but Gruden said that the quarterback "looked fine" and had "a little bounce to his step." Currently, no timetable exists for Griffin to return to the fold, but the struggles of Kirk Cousins haven't endeared himself to the coaching staff, as he's turned the ball over nine times and lost four consecutive starts.(RotoWire, )

News: Griffin (ankle) will begin individual drills Wednesday, Chris Russell of ESPN 980 Washington D.C. reports. Impact: Griffin is no longer wearing a walking boot on his injured ankle but is also not considered close to being ready to play in a game. So while Kirk Cousins will continue to start for the Redskins moving forward, Griffin will at least go through individual drills this week. If all goes well, Griffin could practice in team portions next week, but his status will have to be monitored along the way.(RotoWire, )
