News: Claiborne suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in his left knee during Sunday's game against the Saints and will now miss the remainder of this season, The Dallas Morning News reports. Impact: Claiborne's injury was confirmed by an MRI on Monday and completes a tumultuous week for the former first-round pick. Prior to Sunday's game, he was demoted to the Cowboys' No. 3 cornerback, which caused him to skip last Tuesday's practice session while disappointed. Now, Claiborne will be sidelined for the rest of this season, which will limit him to just 14 games played over the past two years. As a result, Sterling Moore is expected to serve as the Cowboys' nickel cornerback moving forward.(RotoWire, )

News: Claiborne (knee) may have suffered a torn ACL during Sunday's game, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports. Impact: While no diagnosis has been confirmed, owner Jerry Jones revealed that the team fears a torn ACL. If that turns out to be the case, it will finish a tumultuous season for Claiborne, who skipped a Tuesday practice after learning of his demotion from the starting lineup. He was only demoted to nickel corner, meaning he still had an important role in the defense, one that Sterling Moore is now positioned to fill.(RotoWire, )

News: Claiborne will have season-ending surgery after tearing the patellar tendon in his left knee. Coach Jason Garrett said Monday that Claiborne will have surgery in the next couple of days and be put on injured reserve. Impact: Claiborne got hurt in Sunday night's 38-17 victory over the New Orleans Saints, when he was down on the field at the end of a play with about 6 minutes left in the first quarter. The sixth overall pick from the 2012 draft had to be helped off the field with people on both sides of him.(STATS, 9:08pm)

News: Claiborne is questionable to return, after suffering a left leg injury during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Saints, the Dallas Morning News' Brandon George reports. Impact: The Cowboys will likely spend most of Sunday's game in their nickel defense, and only have four cornerbacks active. Claiborne didn't put any weight on his left leg while exiting the field, leaving Dallas with just three healthy cornerbacks, at least for the time being. Sterling Moore figures to take on most of Claiborne's snaps.(RotoWire, )

News: Claiborne is backing up Orlando Scandrick and preparing to play plenty of snaps against New Orleans, just as he did in several games last year. Impact: Claiborne returned to practice Wednesday a day after walking out on the team upon hearing that he was being replaced as a starter by Scandrick. The former top-10 pick skipped meetings and a short walk-through practice Tuesday before returning to the facility about eight hours later to meet with coach Jason Garrett, who said Claiborne would be disciplined but wouldn't reveal how. News: Claiborne returned to the Cowboys' facility Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday against the Saints, The Dallas Morning News reports. Impact: Claiborne left the team facility Tuesday upon being notified that he had lost his starting cornerback position to Orlando Scandrick. As a result, Claiborne missed the Cowboys' walkthrough in advance of Sunday's game versus New Orleans. Nonetheless, the underachieving former first-rounder was reportedly back at team meetings Wednesday and is slated to suit up Sunday. While Brandon Carr and Scandrick will assume the Cowboys' starting cornerback duties, Claiborne should still see significant playing time against the Saints' pass-happy offense.(RotoWire, )

News: Claiborne, upon hearing he had lost his starting spot to Orlando Scandrick, skipped the team's walkthrough Tuesday and left the training complex, putting his status for Sunday's game against the Saints in doubt, the Dallas Morning News' David Moore reports. Impact: He made a big interception late in last week's game against the Rams, but prior to that play he had been perhaps the worst Cowboys defender on the field, so the demotion was in order. The Cowboys will fine Claiborne for his defiance, but his presence would likely be desirable against the Saints' prolific passing attack. Those relying on Claiborne in IDP leagues would probably be best off finding a better option, as he'll be seeing fewer snaps going forward and could be unavailable this week.(RotoWire, )

News: Claiborne recorded three tackles and a fourth-quarter interception that snuffed out the Rams' final drive in Sunday's come-from-behind 34-31 win. Impact: With Orlando Scandrick back in the lineup from his suspension, Claiborne stepped up and staked his claim to a starting spot. Both corners will likely see plenty of snaps next week against the pass-happy Saints, though, regardless of who gets named the starter opposite Brandon Carr.(RotoWire, )
