News: Lamar Miller remains listed as the starter at running back over Moreno on the Dolphins' first official depth chart of the regular season, the team's official site reports. Impact: Though Miller remains listed atop the Dolphins' posted depth chart, the reports suggests that both Moreno and Miller should see considerable playing time out of the team's backfield. In any case, until something of a predictable distribution of the team's carries emerges, and that won't be revealed before Sunday's season opener against the Patriots, we'll continue to operate under the assumption that some form of time-share will be in effect to start the season. For his part, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald maintains that he expects Moreno to emerge as the team's top back, but such a scenario remains speculative for now, given the team's posted depth chart.(RotoWire, )

News: Though coach Joe Philbin has yet to say whether Moreno or Lamar Miller will start at running back for the Dolphins in advance of Week 1, Chris Perkins of the Sun Sentinel suggests that most think that Moreno will emerge as the starter, with Miller as the team's primary backup. Impact: It's a notion echoed by Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, with the Sun-Sentinel report suggesting that Moreno has been the more decisive runner of the two of late. While we still expect some form of timeshare to be in effect in the Dolphins' backfield out of the gate, based on Monday's speculative reports, the momentum may have tilted in Moreno's favor.(RotoWire, )

News: Though offensive coordinator Bill Lazor hasn't clarified whether Moreno or Lamar Miller will emerge as the Dolphins' No. 1 running back, Lazor said he "feels great" about Moreno's health, the Palm Beach Post reports. Impact: Moreno, who is bouncing back from an offseason knee scope, gained 64 yards on 10 carries in his only exhibition game action back on August 23, while Miller combined for 48 yards on 14 carries, for a 3.4 yards per carry average during the course of his preseason work. With Moreno's health in the process of being re-established, Lazor indicated that "in the amount of time (the running back has) been on the field for us, he has been" productive. Meanwhile, coach Joe Philbin has also yet to confirm a lead back, suggesting that based on the flow of games, the team may roll with the option who has the hot hand. In any case, until a top option is identified by the Dolphins, we'll operate under the assumption that some form of time-share will be in effect to start the season. For his part, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald believes that the balance has tilted in Moreno's favor, but until a more predictable distribution of the team's carries emerges, such a notion will remain speculative.(RotoWire, )

News: Moreno and Lamar Miller have split first-team running back snaps over the past two days, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Impact: While coach Joe Philbin indicated that the team's top running back job has yet to be settled, the report notes that Philbin has said some good things about Miller this week. "I like everything Lamar has done since he's gotten here," Philbin said. "He's had an excellent offseason and camp...I like everything he's done since April 21." In reference to Moreno, Philbin noted that, "Knowshon ran the ball well [Saturday]." Until a starter is declared by the Dolphins, we'll operate under the assumption that some form of time-share figures to be in effect to start the season, though at the very least, even if he hasn't completely closed the gap on Miller, Moreno's superior pass protection ability figures to ensure him a third-down role until a more predictable distribution of carries emerges.(RotoWire, )

News: Moreno (knee) will likely sit for Thursday's preseason finale against the Rams, Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Impact: Moreno racked up 64 yards on 10 carries in his preseason debut against the Cowboys last Saturday, surpassing the production of Lamar Miller. His absence from Thursday's game would be precautionary, as Moreno has nothing to prove in terms of his roster spot. He is still battling for the starting gig with Lamar Miller, but it appears that determination will be settled in practice rather than in the game. The two will likely share carries in Week 1 regardless of who gets the starting nod.(RotoWire, )

News: Moreno (knee) gained 64 yards on 10 carries in his 2014 preseason debut Saturday against the Cowboys. Impact: Lamar Miller got the start and rushed for 34 yards on seven carries, but both players saw plenty of work with the first-team offense. It seems that Moreno will at least split touches with Miller early in the season, and the former Bronco may even have a shot to take over as the starter early in the year. Though he wasn't targeted in Saturday's game, Moreno handled some of the third-down work, and he remains the favorite to get most of the playing time on passing downs.(RotoWire, )

News: Moreno (knee) is in line to make his preseason debut Saturday against the Cowboys, the Palm Beach Post reports. Impact: Moreno, who is bouncing back from an arthroscopic procedure on his knee in June, returned to practice last week and is now poised to return to game action. In his absence, Moreno lost some ground to Lamar Miller in the team's starting running back equation, but assuming no setbacks, there's still time for Moreno to advance his case for a significant role in the team's backfield (in tandem with Miller) out of the gate.(RotoWire, )

News: Moreno (knee) is unsure if he will play in Saturday's preseason game against Dallas, the Palm Beach Post reports. Impact: Moreno has made good progress in his recovery from a knee scope, but is still trying to work himself into game shape. He spent part of practice Tuesday and Wednesday doing conditioning drills. The Dolphins will see how he progresses later this week before determining if he will play against the Cowboys on Saturday. During his recent absence, Moreno (who saw some first-team reps Wednesday) lost some ground to Lamar Miller in the team's starting running back competition, but assuming no setbacks, there's still time for Moreno to make a push for the assignment in advance of the Dolphins' season opener.(RotoWire, )
