News: Barner gained 32 yards on seven carries in Thursday's preseason game against the Steelers. Impact: Barner played just fine, but so did his competition, Matthew Tucker (10-46-2) and Henry Josey (4-48). With LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles and Chris Polk (hamstring) holding down the top three spots on the depth chart, Barner is one of three players competing for what will likely be one roster spot.(RotoWire, )

News: The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired running back Kenjon Barner from the Carolina Panthers for a conditional seventh-round draft choice in 2015. Impact: Last year, Barner was drafted in the sixth round by the Panthers. The 25-year-old Barner played in eight regular-season games and one playoff game with the Panthers. The Oregon product played for Chip Kelly in college so fantasy owners may want to take advantage and pick him up cheaply.(STATS, 00:27am)

News: Barner was traded to the Eagles on Tuesday in exchange for a conditional 2015 seventh-round draft pick. Impact: After a rookie season marred by foot and ankle injuries, a healthy Barner failed to make an impact for the Panthers in the preseason, mustering eight yards on eight carries. A reunion with Eagles head man Chip Kelly, his college coach at Oregon, could be exactly what Barner needs to revitalize his stalled career and take advantage of his ability as a playmaker in space out of the backfield or as a returner.(RotoWire, )

News: Barner gained eight yards on eight carries in Friday's preseason opener against the Bills. Impact: With Jonathan Stewart (hamstring) and DeAngelo Williams (coach's decision) sidelined, Barner was the first-team halfback, though Mike Tolbert took the first two carries. In addition to doing nothing with his carries, Barner failed to haul in either of his two targets, and gained zero yards on a pair of punt returns. Not that he was a threat to Williams or Stewart anyway, but Barner did himself no favors Friday night. Should Stewart or Williams miss time this season, the Panthers will still have Tolbert to gobble up some carries and third-down work.(RotoWire, )
