News: Coach Marc Trestman said Morgan ranks as the top option to open the season as the Bears' No. 3 receiver, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports. Impact: Morgan's standing on the depth chart was thought to be in some question after the Bears inked Santonio Holmes over the weekend, but he'll maintain a momentary hold on the third receiver gig, largely by virtue of Holmes' limited practice time. Last season's No. 3 receiver, Earl Bennett, rarely saw much involvement in the passing game with Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery soaking up the targets, so Morgan may need an injury to one of those two players to attain more relevance.(RotoWire, )

News: Morgan caught all three of his target and gained 41 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Jaguars. Impact: Morgan looks well on his way to securing the No. 3 receiver role for the Bears to begin the season, as leading candidate Marquess Wilson will likely miss the first few weeks due to a broken collarbone. Because of the volume of targets Alshon Jeffery, Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennett and Matt Forte collect in the receiving game, Morgan doesn't figure to see many looks unless somebody in that quartet suffers an injury.(RotoWire, )
