News: The San Francisco 49ers have signed Staley to a two-year contract extension through the 2019 season. The 49ers announced the extension after Thursday's ribbon-cutting ceremony at Levi's Stadium. Staley was among the players at the event. Impact: San Francisco selected Staley 28th overall in the 2007 draft out of Central Michigan. He has earned Pro Bowl honors the past three seasons and is primarily responsible for protecting Colin Kaepernick's blindside. General manager Trent Baalke says the extension means the 29-year-old Staley "will likely be a 49er for life." (STATS, 5:27pm)

News: Staley (thumb) signed a two-year contract extension with the 49ers on Thursday. Impact: Staley's new deal will keep him in San Francisco through the 2019 season. The 29-year-old projects to once again start at left tackle in 2014, where he'll pave the way for the running game and play a major role in protecting quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He's currently dealing with a minor thumb injury suffered in the final game of 2013, but doesn't expect to be limited by it at the start of the season.(RotoWire, )
