|News: Packers coach Mike McCarthy indicated Friday that Finley (neck) is "still a Packer" in his mind, but remains without a deadline for a decision, Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact: Finley received medical clearance from his own surgeon, but the free agent has yet to be cleared by an NFL team doctor. Although the tight end has expressed his preference to rejoin the Packers, team doctors in Green Bay have been historically tough on clearing players that have previously suffered neck injuries. Finley's personal health will clearly be more important to either side before getting a potential deal done, but the Packers have yet to close the door on this option. Even if Finley doesn't end up receiving clearance, McCarthy seems pleased with his young core of tight ends as potential replacements, a group that includes Andrew Quarless, Brandon Bostick, Ryan Taylor, Richard Rodgers and Colt Lyerla.
