News: Brown ran a career-high 31 times for 62 yards and caught five passes for 27 yards in Sunday's win at Buffalo. Impact: Brown showed he will be San Diego's workhorse in the wake of Ryan Mathews' injury, and he will continue to receive a lion's share of the work with Danny Woodhead likely done for the year. Owners would certainly like to see more than 2.0 yards per carry, but the workload is there.(STATS, 4:03pm)

News: Brown's teammate Danny Woodhead (ankle) will likely require season-ending surgery, FOX Sports 1's Alex Marvez reports. Impact: With Ryan Mathews (knee) out for 4-5 weeks, Brown entered Sunday's game against the Bills as San Diego's top back, with Woodhead expected to handle most of the passing downs. Now that Woodhead is likely done for the season, Brown may be used as a true three-down workhorse, as he was Sunday, until Mathews returns. Undrafted rookie Branden Olivier is the team's only other healthy running back, though Marion Grice will probably be signed from the practice squad.(RotoWire, )

News: Brown had 31 carries for 62 rushing yards and five catches on six targets for 27 receiving yards Sunday against the Bills. Impact: Brown was expected to get a bigger workload with Ryan Mathews sidelined with a knee injury, but it got even bigger when Danny Woodhead was carted off in the first quarter with an ankle injury. While his 2.0 YPC were hardly impressive, Brown figures to be the workhorse back for the Chargers in Week 4 against the Jaguars with Mathews and Woodhead both likely out.(RotoWire, )

News: The Chargers are very happy that they added to their team depth in the offseason as they get ready to lean on Brown this Sunday at Buffalo, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: Brown was brought in during the offseason to take some of the load off of Ryan Mathews in the hopes that they could keep him healthy and productive all year long. Of course, the Bolts also trusted that if Mathews went down, Brown would be capable of stepping up in his absence. So far, Brown is receiving rave reviews in San Diego and should keep the offense rolling against the Bills. "Donald's a super, super, super pro," said quarterback Philip Rivers. "He's so into it. Obviously, he had a heck of a time in Indy, and he's been good for us here early in the year."(RotoWire, )

News: Brown, who had seven carries for 21 yards Sunday against the Seahawks, is in line for increased work since Ryan Mathews is expected to miss 4-to-5 weeks with a sprained MCL, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: The Bolts signed Brown in the offseason as insurance for this exact situation, so they won't hesitate to use him liberally for the next several weeks. Danny Woodhead will also likely see his role increase, but count on Brown to be the bigger beneficiary from Mathews' injury.(RotoWire, )

News: Brown's teammate Ryan Mathews (knee) is scheduled to undergo an MRI after exiting Sunday's game on a cart, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Impact: The Chargers reportedly fear that Mathews suffered a sprained MCL, an injury that typically requires a recovery period in the range of four weeks. Brown, who was previously getting only the occasional spare touch, will likely now work as the Chargers' lead back, though Danny Woodhead is still the go-to guy for obvious passing situations. With Brown's value almost entirely dependent on Mathews' health, prospective fantasy owners would be wise to keep a close eye on the injury.(RotoWire, )

News: In his regular-season debut with the Chargers on Monday night at Arizona, Brown lost two yards on his two carries and did not catch a pass. Impact: The Cardinals are tough against the run, and the Bolts didn't really play very well in this one, so Brown's goose egg is not all that surprising. It should be noted that Brown's first snap came on the team's first third down of the game. That should be a hint as to how San Diego plans to use him going forward.(RotoWire, )
