News: Woodhead, who suffered a broken fibula Sunday, is headed to IR, according to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Impact: With Ryan Mathews (knee) still out, Donald Brown figures to be a busy back for the Chargers in the coming weeks, with Branden Oliver on hand in a backup role. In any case, the team is certainly going to add running back depth sooner rather than later, with Marion Grice a candidate to be promoted from the team's practice squad and/or a free agent addition possibly on tap.(RotoWire, )

News: Woodhead (ankle) suffered a severe high ankle sprain and a fractured fibula, meaning he'll likely require season-ending surgery, FOX Sports 1's Alex Marvez reports. Impact: The diagnosis hasn't been confirmed by a Chargers beat reporter, but the San Diego Union Tribune suggests that the injury is likely serious. With Ryan Mathews (knee) already expected to miss the next few games due to a sprained MCL, Donald Brown now figures to see even more of the ball. Brown, who had already replaced Mathews as the early-down back, is positioned to assume Woodhead's role on passing downs. Undrafted rookie Branden Olivier is the only other running back on the roster, but Marion Grice will likely be signed from the practice squad.(RotoWire, )

News: Woodhead (ankle) is slated to undergo further testing on his ankle Sunday night, Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Impact: Woodhead was carted off of the field Sunday against the Bills after sustaining an ankle injury on the Chargers' opening drive and upon his exit, the team's only healthy running backs for the rest of the day were Donald Brown and Branden Oliver. More on Woodhead's status as we know it, but the San Diego Union Tribune suggests that his injury could be fairly serious.(RotoWire, )

News: Chargers coach Mike McCoy says running back Danny Woodhead has a broken lower right leg and will miss the rest of the season. Impact: Woodhead was hurt on the first drive of the Chargers' 22-10 win at Buffalo. He was stopped after a 1-yard gain by diving defensive tackle Kyle Williams. Williams hit Woodhead directly in the right ankle, which appeared to twist underneath the player. Woodhead has been a big contributor to the Chargers since he joined them before the 2013 season. News: Woodhead (ankle) has officially been ruled out for a return to Sunday's game against the Bills. Impact: Woodhead was carted off the field in the first quarter with what looked to be a severe ankle injury, so it's no surprise he'll be held out the rest of the contest. The Chargers will likely send him in for tests to determine if he suffered any sort of dislocation or break, either of which would sideline him for further weeks. Donald Brown will be the bell cow for the remainder of Sunday's game for the Chargers, and could continue to occupy the top spot on the depth chart if Woodhead's injury proves to be significant.(RotoWire, )

News: Woodhead (right ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bills, according to Ricky Henne of chargers.com. Impact: With Woodhead having been carted off Sunday, the Chargers are now down to Donald Brown and Brandon Oliver at running back in Week 3.(RotoWire, )

News: Woodhead was carted off the field early in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Bills with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Impact: More on the exact nature of Woodhead's injury, as it becomes available. The Chargers are now down to two healthy backs in Donald Brown and Branden Oliver.(RotoWire, )

News: Woodhead had eight carries for 32 yards and caught four passes on five targets for 28 yards in Sunday's win over Seattle. Impact: The big news is that Ryan Mathews left the game with a knee injury. Woodhead would likely see additional carries if Mathews is out for an extended period of time, but he's still a better option in PPR leagues though, as he probably wouldn't be used at the goal line much. Expect Donald Brown to soak up the majority of the carries Matthews leaves behind.(RotoWire, )

News: Woodhead had six carries for five yards and one catch for six yards Monday night at Arizona. Impact: The Cardinals are especially tough against the run, so Woodhead's struggles don't mean much. We'd like to have seen him targeted more in the passing game, however.(RotoWire, )
