News: Sturgis (groin) did not practice Tuesday, the Miami Herald reports. Impact: With Sturgis still dealing with his groin issue, John Potter has been able to make a case to challenge for the Dolphins' kicking job. It remains to be seen if Sturgis will be able to play Saturday against the Cowboys, but the report suggests that the combination of his injury, and Potter's strong effort of late, has created a competition at a position that the report suggests was previously considered set.(RotoWire, )

News: Sturgis (groin) didn't practice Monday, the Palm Beach Post reports. Impact: We'll track Sturgis' progress in the coming days, but with the report suggesting that the kicker evidently aggravated a groin injury, John Potter is in line to remain in the Dolphins' kicking mix for the time being.(RotoWire, )

News: Though Sturgis (groin) returned to practice last week, he didn't kick in Saturday's preseason win over Tampa Bay, The St. Augustine Record reports. Impact: In his absence, recent addition John Potter handled the Dolphins' kicking duties Saturday, making field goals from 48 and 51 yards, along with a pair of extra points. Assuming Sturgis avoids any setbacks with his strained groin, he figures to hold off Potter, and given that Sturgis was able to participate in practice last week, he appears to have a good chance to work in the Dolphins' upcoming contest Saturday against the Cowboys.(RotoWire, )

News: Sturgis (groin) could be feeling the heat from fellow kicker John Potter, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero. Impact: Sturgis has missed time with a groin injury, which opened the door for Potter to kick in Saturday's preseason game against the Bucs, making both of his field goal attempts, from 48 and 51 yards, in the process. Sturgis is more than likely still safe to start the season, but he'll need to get back into action sooner rather than later to cement that.(RotoWire, )

News: Sturgis, who had been dealing with a strained groin, converted all three of his field goal attempts during Thursday's practice, the Sun Sentinel reports. Impact: Now that he's back at practice, Sturgis could kick in Saturday's preseason contest against the Buccaneers, but if the Dolphins elect to hold him out, John Potter is on hand to fill in.(RotoWire, )
