News: Hoyer completed 19-of-28 passes for 275 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's 23-13 win over Oakland. Impact: Hoyer rebounded from a disastrous performance last week, posting a 9.8 YPA, while completing at least one pass to eight different players. The game was close for three quarters, but his four-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Hawkins gave Cleveland some breathing room. Other than the aforementioned clunker in Week 7, Hoyer has played reasonably well this year, so he's likely to hang on to the starting QB job, despite the presence of rookie Johnny Manziel. He has yet another favorable matchup next week, facing a beatable Bucs' secondary.(RotoWire, )

News: During his press conference Monday, Browns coach Mike Pettine confirmed Hoyer as the team's starter for Week 8 against the Raiders, the Akron Beacon-Journal reports. Impact: A dismal showing against Jacksonville on Sunday opened up speculation that the Browns might consider making a switch to rookie Johnny Manziel, but Pettine's comments have shut that door for now. In addition to Hoyer's struggles, the Browns were unable to run the ball, perhaps in large part because it was their first game without Pro Bowl center Alex Mack (broken fibula). If Hoyer were to struggle again Sunday in a favorable home matchup against Oakland, it's reasonable to think that the coaches might be tempted to make a change at quarterback as soon as Week 9.(RotoWire, )

News: Hoyer was awful in Sunday's loss to the Jags. Impact: Hoyer lost a fumble that led to a field goal in the third quarter and threw an interception in the fourth. He completed 16 of 41 passes for 215 yards and was sacked three times. This effort will likely start rekindling debate about how long first-round draft pick Johnny Manziel will stay on the sideline.(STATS, 3:42pm)

News: Hoyer was not sharp in Sunday's 24-6 loss at Jacksonville, completing just 16-of-41 passes for 215 yards with no touchdowns. He was also intercepted once and lost a fumble. Impact: Hoyer surprisingly struggled, in what should have been a favorable matchup, at least on paper. He badly missed a wide-open Jordan Cameron in the end zone at one point and failed to lead the Browns to any touchdowns. He's been steady this season, albeit unspectacular, so it would probably take a few more weeks of poor play, before the team considered benching him in favor of rookie Johnny Manziel.(RotoWire, )
