News: McCoy will be delegated to backup duties Sunday against the Vikings, as Robert Griffin (ankle) will take over the starting job,'s Ian Rapoport reports. Impact: McCoy was apparently informed after practice Wednesday that he would be the backup for the Week 9 matchup in Minnesota. Griffin's ankle injury appears to be nearing full strength, so he'll get the starting nod for the first time since Week 2. McCoy more than proved he's a serviceable backup with his pristine accuracy Monday night, and will be the likely fallback option should Griffin experience discomfort at any point.(RotoWire, )

News: McCoy's successful return to his home state Monday ended in a shocking 20-17 OT win for the 'Skins. Impact: Playing in Dallas' stadium for the first time since his Texas-record 45th victory in the 2009 Big 12 championship game against Nebraska, McCoy was 25 of 30 for 299 yards and an interception. He also ran seven times for 16 yards and one TD. He goes into next week's game in Minnesota with some confidence.(STATS, 8:25pm)

News: McCoy completed 25-of-30 passes for 299 yards, with 16 rushing yards, a rushing touchdown, and an interception in Monday's 20-17 overtime win over the Cowboys. Impact: Though there was a bad first-quarter interception and an ugly fourth-quarter sequence that knocked the Redskins out of range to kick a go-ahead field goal, McCoy mostly played a good game in his first start since 2011. He twice hit DeSean Jackson for long gains, while adding a slew of short and intermediate passes to Washington's other receivers. As well as McCoy moved the ball, he didn't do any damage on the ground, with the exception of a seven-yard touchdown scamper on a designed quarterback draw on third down. McCoy still only figures to start until Robert Griffin (ankle) is ready, and the Redskins' next game is on the road against a Minnesota team that has been tough on opposing quarterbacks. With a bye waiting in Week 10, and the coaching staff perhaps now having a bit more confidence in McCoy, the Redskins may opt to play things safe with Griffin.(RotoWire, )

News: McCoy will start Monday night's game against Dallas. Impact: Robert Griffin's inclusion on Washington's inactive list Monday offers final confirmation of McCoy's Monday night assignment against 6-1 Dallas, thus making him an option for those reserving a slot in their lineup this week for whichever Washington QB squared off against Tony Romo and the Cowboys.(RotoWire, )

News: As has been the case all week, McCoy is still expected to start at quarterback Monday night against the Cowboys, the Washington Post reports. Impact: We've chronicled coach Jay Gruden's comments over the past few days, as he craftily avoided any definitive statements about Monday's starter, but all the signs have pointed to McCoy being the guy. Robert Griffin III (ankle) is expected to retake the job when he's fully healthy, but McCoy will get an opportunity to take on the 6-1 Cowboys under the Monday night lights.(RotoWire, )

News: McCoy again took the majority of the first-team reps in practice Friday. Impact: Robert Griffin III (ankle) was limited in practice, but coach Jay Gruden is maintaining, at least publicly, that Griffin still could start Monday night against the Cowboys. Gruden said he will not make a decision on Griffin's status until game day. All of this uncertainty could be nothing more than gamesmanship in an effort to keep the rival Cowboys guessing, but we won't know for sure until Monday. For now, McCoy remains the most likely starter.(RotoWire, )

News: McCoy remains on pace to start for the Washington Redskins on Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, although Jay Gruden says he won't make a decision on Robert Griffin III until shortly before kickoff. Impact: Gruden tried to be a bit strategic Thursday, declining to rule out whether Griffin will face a Cowboys team, that in theory, will have to prepare for two very different quarterbacks. But the coach continued to give every indication that McCoy will make a first NFL start since 2011.(STATS, 3:54pm)
Thu. Oct 23, 2014
News: Though coach Jay Gruden has yet to rule out Robert Griffin (ankle) for Monday night's game against Dallas, the team is proceeding as though McCoy will draw the start at quarterback, the Washington Post reports. Impact: While Gruden suggested that a call on whether Griffin will be active or inactive this week may not come until Monday, when asked Thursday if he still plans to start McCoy at this stage, Gruden replied, "oh, yeah. Yeah." We'll revisit the situation no later than Friday, but in any case, McCoy represents a Week 8 fantasy dart against 6-1 Dallas.(RotoWire, )

News: While Robert Griffin (ankle) had his most extensive workout to date Wednesday, it still appears likely that McCoy will start Monday's game against Dallas, the Washington Post reports. Impact: While Griffin is clearly progressing, coach Jay Gruden has stated that the QB has to prove he is completely healthy before returning to the Washington lineup. In any case, Gruden plans to make a final decision on the team's Week 8 starter Thursday afternoon, but as it stands, it appears as though McCoy is on track to start the contest.(RotoWire, )
Wed. Oct 22, 2014
News: McCoy remains the Washington Redskins starting quarterback as of "right now" - but the coach Jay Gruden called Robert Griffin III a "wild card" who still has a chance to start Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Impact: Gruden said Wednesday that Griffin still needs to be cleared for full contact and satisfy the coaches that he's ready in order to play. The coach said he'd like to make a final decision by the end of practice Thursday. (STATS, 1:07pm)
Mon. Oct 20, 2014
News: Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that McCoy will handle Washington's starter's reps at quarterback this week. Impact: At this stage, fellow QB Robert Griffin (ankle) isn't totally ruled out for action this weekend, but per Gruden, Griffin has "a long way to go" on that front. As a result, Washington is proceeding as though McCoy will draw the start at QB for the team in next Monday's contest against Dallas.(RotoWire, )
Mon. Oct 20, 2014
News: McCoy completed 11 of 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's last-second 19-17 win over Tennessee. Impact: McCoy was terrific after replacing an incompetent Kirk Cousins, and he appears to be in line to start Week 8 if RGIII isn't ready. Despite that news, McCoy doesn't have much fantasy value aside from two-QB leagues.(STATS, 4:19pm)
Mon. Oct 20, 2014
News: Unless Robert Griffin III is 100 percent ready to return from injury, McCoy will start at quarterback against the Dallas Cowboys next week. Impact: Griffin has been sidelined since dislocating his left ankle in Week 2 against Jacksonville. Kirk Cousins took over as the starter, but he was benched at halftime Sunday, when McCoy came in and led Washington to a come-from-behind 19-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans.(STATS, 2:52pm)
Oct 19, 2014
News: McCoy, who replaced Kirk Cousins after halftime and completed 11-of-12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Titans, is expected to start Week 8 at the Dallas Cowboys, if Robert Griffin does not return from his ankle injury, reports. Impact: McCoy was solid, but unspectacular Sunday, doing just enough to keep the Redskins in the game, which they ultimately won on a 22-yard field goal by Kai Forbath as time expired. Griffin is expected to return in Week 9 against the Vikings, but head coach Jay Gruden left open the possibility of him returning in Week 8, if he can get in at least one full practice before the game. McCoy has thrown only 18 passes in the last two seasons, but with Cousins continuing to turn the ball over, he appears likely to get the start next week.(RotoWire, )
Sun. Oct 19, 2014
News: McCoy replaced Kirk Cousins at quarterback for the Washington Redskins' opening possession of the second half against the Tennessee Titans. Impact: On McCoy's second play from scrimmage - and his first pass attempt - he threw a short pass to Pierre Garcon that the receiver turned into a 70-yard touchdown. Washington took a 13-10 lead with the play.(STATS, 2:11pm)
