News: Police say Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer head-butted his wife after she refused his sexual advances, and broke her nose. The details surfaced Thursday in a law enforcement report a day after Dwyer was arrested on aggravated assault charges and deactivated from all team activities. He spent a night in jail and was released early Thursday. Impact: The altercation occurred on July 21 at their Phoenix residence. The next day, another dispute between the couple turned violent when Dwyer punched his wife in the face and struck his 17-month-old son in the stomach with a shoe, according to the report. The son wasn't injured. In a police interview, Dwyer denied committing an assault, though he acknowledged that he punched walls in his home, threw a phone and that his wife bit his lip during the disputes. (STATS, 11:02am)

News: Dwyer had nine carries for 31 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants. Impact: Dwyer's score came on a one-yard run in the first quarter, but any thought that he would dominate touches with Andre Ellington battling a foot injury quickly ended, as the latter finished with 15 carries for 91 yards, plus one catch for 10 receiving yards. Ellington's ailment is likely to hamper him for a few more weeks, but he has now played through it in back-to-back games, leaving Dwyer to backup duty. Up next for the Cardinals is a matchup against a tough 49ers defense, which isn't exactly ideal for a running back that gets limited touches per game.(RotoWire, )

News: Dwyer played 24-of-70 offensive snaps during Monday's win versus the Chargers, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports. Impact: Dwyer played second fiddle to Andre Ellington, who fended off the muscle injury in his left foot to start and garner 36 snaps. Meanwhile, acting as Ellington's complement, Dwyer took seven carries for 20 yards and two receptions (on three targets) for eight yards. Despite receiving far fewer looks (six in all), Stepfan Taylor nearly matched Dwyer's output, with one run for five yards and three catches for 20 yards, yet Taylor added a five-yard touchdown reception to his line. Dwyer's touches are contingent upon Ellington's health, which remains in question entering Sunday's outing against the Giants in New York, as Ellington is donning a walking boot with hopes of taking the practice field this week.(RotoWire, )

News: Working as a complement to Andre Ellington, Dwyer had seven carries for 20 yards and two catches for eight yards. Impact: Overall, it wasn't an especially efficient day for Dwyer. Meanwhile, Stepfan Taylor, who had one carry for five yards and three catches for 20 yards and a score, will likely compete with Dwyer for market share in the backfield.(RotoWire, )
