News: Carlson took the field for 70 of the Cardinals' 76 offensive snaps during Sunday's victory at Oakland, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports. Overall, he gathered in two passes (on four targets) for 20 yards. Impact: Carlson put up his typical mundane line, and the Cardinals' 22-game sample size under the direction of coach Bruce Arians reveals scant usage of tight ends in the passing attack. The offense in fact lacks a fullback, meaning tight ends more often than not remain in protection, which doesn't allow for a substantial target count (20 in six games for Carlson). As a result, owners are advised to search elsewhere if in need of TE production.(RotoWire, )

News: Carlson (knee) is active for Sunday's contest at Oakland, Mark Dalton of the Cardinals' official site reports. Impact: Carlson dominates the snaps among Cardinals tight ends, but with only 12 catches on 16 targets for 129 yards through five games, he isn't a viable option, outside of extremely deep formats.(RotoWire, )

News: Carlson (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland. Impact: Carlson evidently isn't at full strength, but he seems to have a decent chance of playing after logging two limited practices to close out the week. With just 16 targets in five games, though, he doesn't look like much of a fantasy consideration.(RotoWire, )

News: Carlson returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis, the Cardinals' official site reports. Impact: Carlson's health is trending upward heading toward the weekend, but you would need to be scraping the bottom of the barrel at tight end to consider playing him this week given his level of involvement in the passing game.(RotoWire, )

News: Carlson (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports. Impact: Even though he takes the vast majority of TE reps on offense, Carlson is little more than a safety valve for Cardinals' quarterbacks, whether it's Carson Palmer (shoulder) or Drew Stanton. However, Carlson's knee issue is of unknown severity, which should be monitored throughout the week in order to learn his availability Sunday in Oakland.(RotoWire, )

News: Carlson played 84 percent of the offensive snaps during Sunday's victory versus Washington, FOX Sports 910 Phoenix reports. Impact: Carlson matched the six targets received by both Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown, but the tight end's final line (four catches for 14 yards) left owners wanting more. In non-PPR formats, Carlson's performance was his worst of the season despite far exceeding his previous season high of three targets. His consistent usage through five games could help him eventually end his streak without a touchdown, which extends back to Week 10 last year as a member of the Vikings.(RotoWire, )
