News: Stanton will start against San Francisco on Sunday. Impact: Stanton wasn't good against the Giants last week, completing 14-of-29 passes for just 167 yards, taking four sacks. The 49ers defense has been mostly effective this year, so it's hard to see Stanton getting much going against them. Owners of Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald should cross their fingers for an imminent Carson Palmer return, but it's not clear when to expect Palmer to return from his shoulder injury.(RotoWire, )

News: Stanton will start at quarterback when the Cardinals play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Arizona coach Bruce Arians says that if Carson Palmer is in good enough condition, he will be the backup quarterback. But Arians says Palmer, out with a nerve problem in his shoulder, still is unable to throw a pass. Impact: Stanton was the quarterback in Arizona's 25-14 road win over the New York Giants last Sunday. It was the first time he had played in a regular-season game in four years. After this week, Palmer will have some time to heal because the Cardinals have a bye next week. Rookie Logan Thomas will be the backup if Palmer can't fill that role. (STATS, 3:41pm)

News: Stanton was solid in his first regular-season action since 2010 as he led the Cards to a win over the Giants. Impact: Stanton was 14 of 19 for 167 yards and no touchdowns. Monitor Carson Palmer's status to see if Stanton faces the Niners next weekend.(STATS, 11:23pm)

News: Stanton, starting in place of the injured Carson Palmer (shoulder), completed 14-of-29 passes for 167 yards Sunday against the Giants. Impact: Stanton completed passes to seven different receivers, focusing on Larry Fitzgerald, who caught six passes on 10 targets for 51 yards. Fitzgerald almost had a touchdown in the first quarter, but it was overturned after it was decided he did not break the plane. Stanton did enough to lead the Cardinals to victory, but he isn't likely to be a solid fantasy contributor if Palmer has to miss any additional time.(RotoWire, )

News: Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer will not play against the New York Giants on Sunday because of a shoulder injury. Palmer, who was limited at practice all week, will be replaced by Stanton. Impact: Stanton is an eight-year veteran who has four career starts.(STATS, 10:46am)

News: Stanton is the Cardinals' starting quarterback with Carson Palmer (shoulder) inactive Sunday against the Giants in New York. Impact: After failing to throw all week, Palmer couldn't fend off the "nerve issues" in his right shoulder during pregame warmups, resulting in his first absence with the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Stanton, who is making his first start since Dec. 19, 2010, may surprise with his acumen of an offense that he's been studying for two-plus seasons, under the tutelage of coach Bruce Arians.(RotoWire, )

News: Stanton is in line to start Sunday's game against the Giants, with NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reporting that Carson Palmer will not play in the contest. Impact: The report indicates that Palmer tested his shoulder out Sunday and evidently that didn't go as hoped. Assuming inactives confirm this outcome, Stanton thus appears to be an option in Week 2 for deep-leaguers, or those scrambling to replace Palmer.(RotoWire, )
