News: Wilkerson is skipping the Jets' voluntary OTAs, which began Tuesday, nj.com reports.
Impact: Wilkerson, who is under contract with the Jets for 2015 at a salary of $6.97 million, is looking for a contract extension, an outcome that seems likely down the road, given the team's stated desire to keep the defensive end in the fold. In any case, Wilkerson's presence is not considered mandatory until next month's three-day minicamp. Wilkerson is coming off a 2014 season in which he recorded 56 tackles and six sacks in 13 games.

News: Wilkerson has decided to not attend the start of the team's voluntary workouts while he waits for a potential new contract. The players reported for workouts Monday, but are not required to attend. It was uncertain whether Wilkerson would sit out the entire non-mandatory offseason program. CBSSports.com first reported Wilkerson's absence.
Impact: Wilkerson is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and due to make $6.9 million this season. He acknowledged at the end of last season that he was surprised there had been no movement on contract talks.
