News: Claiborne (Achilles) expected to play in this Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: He's been held out of the first two preseason games as he recovers from last year's Achilles tear, but with Orlando Scandrick now out of the secondary picture with an ACL tear, the Cowboys need Claiborne to step up in a big way. Assuming he makes it through to Week 1 in one piece, expect Claiborne to be in the starting lineup.

News: Claiborne was a standout performer during the Cowboys' first day of padded practice Saturday, Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: He picked off one Tony Romo pass in seven-on-seven drills and nearly had another on a deep ball targeted at Devin Street. Claiborne has made a very impressive, and very quick, recovery from surgery to repair his torn Achilles tendon, but there's still a long way to go before the Cowboys will be able to rely on him as a dependable member of the secondary.

News: Claiborne (Achilles) was on the field for the first practices of training camp Thursday, seeing first-team reps in the nickel defense package, Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: The fourth-year cornerback has made impressive progress in his recovery from surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, but Claiborne still sits no better than third on the depth chart at the position and will need to fend off first-round pick Byron Jones to maintain his role.
