News: Claiborne (knee) won't participate in next week's OTAs, Mickey Spagnola of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: He's recovering from surgeries on the patellar tendons in both of his knees, and at this point the Cowboys still aren't entirely sure if Claiborne will be ready for Week 1, much less training camp. If he's not, first round pick Byron Jones' development will become even more important for the team's secondary.

News: The Cowboys declined to pick up the fifth-year option on Claiborne's contract, David Helman of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: The option would have been worth about $11 million, and given Claiborne's checkered injury and performance history, the team deemed that to be too steep. As a result, he'll be an unrestricted free agent after the 2015 season.

News: The Cowboys have until Sunday to officially pick up the 2016 option on Claiborne (knee), DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: The oft-injured Claiborne is expected to miss the beginning of training camp as he recovers from a patellar tendon injury, and the fact that the Cowboys used their first round pick on Byron Jones does cloud Claiborne's future with the team somewhat. Chances are the Cowboys will pick up the option though, in the hopes that Claiborne can finally stay healthy and begin to play up to his potential.
