News: The Cowboys have until Sunday to officially pick up the 2016 option on Claiborne (knee), DallasCowboys.com reports.
Impact: The oft-injured Claiborne is expected to miss the beginning of training camp as he recovers from a patellar tendon injury, and the fact that the Cowboys used their first round pick on Byron Jones does cloud Claiborne's future with the team somewhat. Chances are the Cowboys will pick up the option though, in the hopes that Claiborne can finally stay healthy and begin to play up to his potential.

News: Claiborne (knee) may not be ready for the start of training camp, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact: The Cowboys aren't expecting Claiborne to be involved in any spring OTAs, however, as he recovers from a ruptured patellar tendon. "We are hopeful about [Claiborne returning for] training camp," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "He might be one of those guys who doesn't start right away in training camp. But that's a long way off. That's premature. But I wouldn't anticipate him being too involved in the spring." With Claiborne having been a disappointment so far in his career and Brandon Carr getting older, look for the Cowboys to add more secondary depth in the draft if they can.
