News: The Raiders have released Burris, sfgate.com reports.
Impact: Burris notched 109 tackles while starting all 16 games at middle linebacker for the Raiders last season, but the signing of Curtis Lofton along with the addition of Neiron Ball and Ben Heeney in the NFL draft squeezed Burris out of Oakland's LB mix.

News: The Oakland Raiders are planning to release two starters from last year's team, cutting ties with Burris and receiver James Jones.
Impact: Burris announced on his Twitter account Monday that he was going to be released, and Jones told CSN California that general manager Reggie McKenzie told him he was going to be cut. The moves came after the Raiders selected potential replacements in last week's draft. Oakland used its first-round pick on receiver Amari Cooper and then drafted linebackers Ben Heeney of Kansas and Neiron Bell of Florida in the fifth round.
