It's all about the image
Instagram isn’t just a fad. NFL players have taken to the social media tool, posting photos of their off-the-field exploits and hobbies during their downtime. So we here at FOXSports.com present our Instagram Power Rankings, where we count down the top 10 images from the previous week. Let’s get to work. — Sid Saraf
Bruce Miller spends his days as a mild-mannered tight end for the San Francisco 49ers. He's likeable and has an epic beard. By all accounts, things are going just peachy for Mr. Miller. Then he presented this photo.
"My lady spent the day doing little things to surprise me for my bday. I'm a lucky man! Thanks for all the birthday love!! #wishthefamwashere #gettinold"
OK, so he's doing a job he loves, makes great money and has a sweet wife who gives him birthday surprises?! Jealously rising! Rage building!
Redskins WR/TE Niles Paul is just so happy to be in this picture. Donte Stallworth? Not so much.
"I really don't like @rambo_84... I just pretend to because we're teammates."
We know he's joking, but it would be funnier if he wasn't.
Members of the Maryland Air National Guard got a special treat when they met the Ravens head coach.
Actually, I'll rephrase that. Ravens coach John Harbaugh got a special treat when he met these brave servicemen.
"Members of the #Maryland Air #NationalGuard present Coach #Harbaugh with a #flag that was flown over their base in Afghanistan. #military #AirForce #RealHeroes #RavensCamp #nfltrainingcamp"
OK, try and keep up here: Bills cornerback Aaron Williams took this photo of running back Fred Jackson throwing cornerback TJ Heath into a bin.
This is what happens when you make @fred22jackson mad, talkin all that smack hahaha #StayInYoLane @tjheath34
Ahh, so Heath thought it would be good sport to run his mouth at Jackson, who is one tough hombre. Not smart, TJ. You sit in there and think about what you did.
The Jets head coach has really lost a lot of weight. Don't believe me? Here's a picture of him from just a few years ago.
Now look at him. He's looking svelte and is running with his team during training camp.
"Practicing what he preaches, Rex takes the field. #JetsCamp"
And that's some pretty sweet leg ink, Rex.
This is the part of the NFL that people tend to gloss over. When someone gets hurt, it's reported that "So and so tore his ACL and will undergo surgery." What we don't see is this. Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin has right leg propped up and bandaged. Man, there are lot of straps and tubes there.
That's gotta be tough. But to Maclin's credit, he's not feeling glum.
"Surgery went well....road to major comeback starts now!"
Cheers, Jeremy. Here's hoping you're back on the field and kicking butt before too long.
The Titans running back, once nicknamed CJ2K, is going to be in Ink Magazine. He's giving us a sneak preview of what will be in print.
"Check me out in @inkmagazine right now on stands today go get that"
Other than the tattoo of what looks like Katt Williams on his left arm, do you notice anything else about this picture? Maybe it's the camera angle, but do we see a bit of a gut growing in his midsection?
For all those planning to use a pick on Chris Johnson, abort! Abort! Find someone else to draft!
It's no secret that we at FOXSports.com are huge fans of the Colts punter. We also love doggies.
"Good to be home for a night... Missed these princesses"
There's nothing like coming home to some fuzzy friends after a hard day of training camp. That's good stuff right there. They're making sure to keep "The Boomstick" nice and warm.
Hey, it's a short guy standing next to a really tall guy!! Epic.
Actually, Patriots receiver Danny Amendola is 5-11 (I think that's fudged), but he's looking shrimpy in this shot. Meet "Stretch" from the Harlem Globetrotters. That's a whole lot of man right there.
I wonder what kind of car he drives. I doubt a Fiat would cut it, just sayin.'
The Panthers are expecting a lot out of their franchise quarterback in 2013. Will this be the year that he posts a winning record for this first time?
To do so he'll have to make sure he can build a rapport with a receiver other than Steve Smith and try and get the offense to .... GAAAH!! PUPPIES AND KITTIES!!
Actually, I don't care about football anymore.
"Behind the scenes photo from a calendar shoot that will benefit the Humane Society."
Cam is having quite a stretch. First he received kudos for going out of his way to make a women in a wheelchair feel good last week, he's helping animals out at the Humane Society .... and now? He's won the title in this week's rankings.
See you next time!
