NFL 5 107 Brian Billick looks ahead to NFL Week 11 31963600 Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos (Sunday, 8:30 p.m. ET, NBC) Kansas+City+Chiefs+at+Denver+Broncos+%28Sunday%2C+8%3A30+p.m.+ET%2C+NBC%29 NFL

This will be the first true test for Andy Reid and this defense this season, and particularly the last five weeks. The Chiefs have played Ryan Fitzpatrick, Terrelle Pryor, Case Keenum, Jason Campbell and Jeff Tuel in their last five games. That is two quarterbacks that started the season as backups and three that were third-stringers when the season kicked off. So while they may have the most dominant defense in the NFL, they haven’t exactly had the toughest competition. This week they will get a hobbled Peyton Manning, but even at 50 percent he is the best quarterback they have faced all season, by a long shot. On defense, the Broncos have given up a league-high 49 explosive plays, but the Chiefs have just 28 explosive plays on offense, the worst in the NFL. Whoever can break this trend on Sunday should be the winner of the game.

In the last three weeks, Eli Manning has refrained from making the terrible mistakes that had plagued him in the beginning of the season, but he also hasn’t made a ton of positive plays either. He has completed just 60 percent of his passes and is averaging just 195 yards per game and less than one touchdown per game in the last three. The Giants are lucky to get the Packers when they are without Aaron Rodgers and less than 100 percent at other key positions, but that doesn’t mean Eli and the Giants’ offense are just going to be able to float by. Look for the Giants to top the 300-yard passing mark and for Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz to both find the end zone at least once. I’ll take the Giants for their fourth win in a row.

Russell Wilson is 12-0 at home as a starter and is orchestrating an offense that has generated more explosive plays than the Denver Broncos. That is pretty impressive given the fact that he has been without Percy Harvin all year and Sidney Rice for the past month. Speaking of Harvin, it looks as if he will be ready to play on Sunday, albeit in a limited capacity, but I’m sure he will be eager to prove to his old team that he is ready to go. The Vikings have been playing well under Christian Ponder in the last two weeks, but there is no guarantee he will be healthy enough to go on Sunday. I like the Seahawks in a blowout -- at least two touchdowns, probably three.

Drew Brees and the Saints are coming off a Week 10 performance in which they put up a franchise-record 625 yards and an NFL-record 40 first downs. They scored on seven of 10 drives and two of the misses were the end of the game and a failed field-goal attempt. Brees has averaged 368 yards while completing nearly 75 percent of his passes at home this season. Compare that to the 49ers, who totaled just 151 yards last week, their fewest since 2006. Colin Kapernick is averaging just 186.1 passing yards per game, the second fewest among starting quarterbacks in the NFL. While I don’t think it will be a blowout by any means, I’ll take the Saints by at least a touchdown on Sunday.

Very quietly, Philip Rivers leads the NFL in completion percentage and is in the top five in passing yards, touchdowns and passer rating. Most importantly, he may have found his new favorite target for years to come, Keen Allen. In his rookie season, Allen is second on the team in receiving yards, just 44 behind team-leading Antonio Gates, and leads all rookies in the same category. As we get further into the season, look for his targets to increase even more. The Dolphins are obviously stuck in controversy but the greatest medicine is a win and they should have a great chance against a team having to travel cross-country. I like the Dolphins to bounce back to .500 with this win, but I’m not overly confident in the pick.

The Texans have lost eight games in a row and Case Keenum has yet to earn his first career win in the NFL. The Raiders have yet to win a road game yet this season. In fact, Dennis Allen is just 1-11 on the road as the head coach. Well, one of those trends will end on Sunday and I’d have to assume it will favor the Texans. Wade Phillips’ defense is the best in the NFL in total yards, but strangely enough, 28th in scoring defense -- the only defensive stat that really matters. But Terrelle Pryor has thrown no touchdown passes in any of the last three games and is hobbled by a knee injury. I’ll take the struggling Texans over the struggling Raiders.

Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush are one of two active wide receiver/running back duos to combine for 900 yards from scrimmage (DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy are the other). You could argue that each has been just as important to the other as far as offensive production. Bush is on pace to smash his career-high rushing yardage number and is averaging a career-high 5.7 yards per touch. As for Megatron, he already has four more touchdowns than he scored last season and is on pace for more than 1,800 yards. You have to give the Lions credit for getting the ball into the hands of their playmakers and letting them do what they do best. Because of that, I’m taking the Lions on the road.

Chip Kelly’s high-octane offense hasn’t generated the total number of plays everyone anticipated, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been explosive. The Eagles have 61 plays of 20-plus yards and that is the best in the NFL by 16. They will be facing a Redskins team that is ranked 27th in total defense, second-to-last in scoring defense, and has given up 42 explosive plays to opposing offenses. So, once again, the Eagles should be able to gain yardage in chunks on Sunday. The Redskins would be wise to play a little keep-away and with the running game they have shown in the last two weeks, that may be very achievable. The Redskins have rushed for more than 400 yards in the last two games and that has come against better defenses than Philadelphia’s 31st-ranked unit will provide. Still, I’m picking the Eagles to snap their 10-game home losing streak.

Carson Palmer has yet to start a game for the Cardinals and not throw an interception but he also hasn’t played a defense as forgiving as the Jaguars. Jacksonville has just 12 takeaways, which puts them at 25th in the NFL, but they are coming off their first win and are carrying more momentum than at any other time this season. They should have a good chance to score back-to-back wins as the Cardinals rank 27th in total offense and are scoring a measly 16 points per game on the road, but I don’t see them playing flat with a chance to move to 6-4 on the season and just a game back of San Francisco for the wildcard. I’ll take the Cardinals, but it won’t be easy.

The Jets have alternated wins and losses this season but this may be this best chance to register back-to-back wins thus far. Rex Ryan is 7-2 in his career against the Bills and is undefeated in the last four meetings, and Geno Smith has already defeated them once this year. Geno wasn’t the only one who played well in that game though; the defense had a Rex Ryan-era high of eight sacks in which seven different players had at least one. The Bills are coming off a Week 10 performance in which they produced season lows in points and total yards against Pittsburgh. Now they will face the eighth-ranked total defense and No. 1 rushing defense. I’m rolling with the Jets.

Andy Dalton has lost his last two games against the Browns and is coming off back-to-back rocky starts in which he has thrown six interceptions. When Dalton is on his game, this team is nearly indefensible, but in this last two games he has a completion percentage of 53.8 and has thrown just two touchdowns -- one of which was a Hail Mary. The Browns have a top-five defense and Joe Haden is a tough matchup for A.J. Green. Green had seven catches in their Week 4 matchup, but went for just 51 yards for a near season-low of 7.3 yards per game. Compare that to his 15.6 season average and Haden held him to less than 50 percent production. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Browns won in the upset, but it’s hard to pick against the Bengals who have yet to lose at home this season.

Jay Cutler will miss another start as Marc Trestman was quick to announce Josh McCown as the starter this week, but it really doesn’t matter who plays QB for the Bears when it comes to Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. The two have become one of the most feared pairings in the NFL with Marshall coming off his second multi-touchdown game of the season and Jeffery catching nine balls for 114 yards. Combined, the two have more yards than any other teammates in the NFL right now -- they lead Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker by seven yards. The Ravens rank 15th in total defense and they are most vulnerable against the pass. In addition, they have given up twice as many points on the road than they have at home. I’m going with the Bears in Chicago.

The Falcons have the league’s worst rushing offense with just 64.3 yards per game and while the Buccaneers are just 1-8, they have been pretty good on defense, and are currently ranked fifth in the NFL in rushing defense. To make matters worse for the Falcons, the Bucs are coming off a prime time game in which they held the Dolphins to just two rushing yards. Two! So while it looks like Atlanta’s will once again struggle on the ground, the matchup to watch will be Roddy White against Darrelle Revis. Considering White managed just one catch in his return from injuries last week, I’ll give the edge to Revis and the Bucs.
