McClain’s love for the game wavered and off-the-field trouble continued to find him as he was arrested three times in a 16-month span. In December 2011, he was arrested after a shooting. Then he was arrested for providing a false identity to police after being pulled over for having his car windows tinted too dark. The final straw was when he was arrested 10 days after signing with the Ravens for alleged disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
McClain remembers the moment when his friends and family would ask for money right after he inked his contract with the Raiders in 2010. McClain, according to the article, admits that he spent almost $600,000 on cars and other items in a six-month span to satisfy those members.
The 24-year-old linebacker decided to retire in May to start a new life and clear his head.
Last month, McClain’s agent Pat Dye Jr. said that he believes McClain is interested in another opportunity with an NFL team. For now, McClain is attempting to solve his off-the-field issues and says he’ll “probably” play next year.
