NFL offseason: Mark your calendars

The Super Bowl confetti has been cleaned up from the Superdome turf and now the NFL has turned the page to the 2013 season. Which events should you circle on your calendar? Here’s a list of the most important dates this NFL offseason:

  • Teams can negotiate with unrestricted free agents

  • 4 p.m. EST deadline for clubs to exercise options on all players with option clauses
  • Clubs must submit qualifying offers to restricted free agents by 4 p.m. EST
  • Clubs must submit minimum salary offer by 4 p.m. EST to players with less than three seasons of free agency credit and expiring 2012 contracts
  • All 2012 player contracts expire at 4 p.m. EST
  • Top 51 begins: All clubs must be under salary cap by 4 p.m. EST
  • 2013 League year and free agency period begins at 4 p.m. EST
  • Trading period begins at 4 p.m. EST
