Philadelphia bar refuses to show Eagles games while Michael Vick is still on the team

Michael Vick served 21 months in jail for running an illegal dog fighting ring. Since then he has become a dog advocate and has gone out of his way to seek forgiveness for the horrible things he did in the past.

Some people, however, haven’t forgiven Vick. Just last week he took home the No. 1 spot – for a fourth consecutive time – on a most disliked NFL players poll released by Forbes.

Now we learn that one local bar in Philadelphia is refusing to show Eagles games on TV until Vick is off the team. Patty Brett, the owner of a bar called Doobie’s, explained her reasoning in a recent story on a Philadelphia version of Newsworks.org.

“Because of what Michael Vick has done to those animals, I can’t in good conscience support the Eagles while he’s a member of the team,” she said. “He murdered and tortured animals and I can’t forgive him for that.”

Brett’s bar is located about 5 1/2 miles from Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles. According to the story, she was pretty emotional just talking about the QB.

Just the mention of Vick is enough to bring Patty Brett to tears.

“I rescue animals and I’m an animal advocate,” she said. “And I’m probably going to get upset.”
