It’s time to purge those unpleasant memories. Remember when you spent a high fantasy draft pick on Bills running back CJ Spiller, only to have him let you down with his lack of playing time?
It’s time to rejoice.
Buffalo’s first-year offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett has said (via the Buffalo News) that he’s gonna use Spiller. A lot. In fact, this is Hackett’s quote:
“It’s real simple. We’re going to give him the ball until he throws up. So he’s either got to tap out or throw up on the field. Let’s just put it that way.”
This is the best possible news for people (like myself) who would watch Bills games and wonder why No. 28 wasn’t on the field for every play. After all, Spiller managed to rush for 1,244 yards in 2012 on just 207 carries. If you’re doing the math at home, that’s an average of just over 6 yards per rush. This is why Hackett feels it’s a no-brainer to feed Spiller the rock very often. What’s more, he doesn’t care who knows it.
“It doesn’t matter. You can say that because any team that has ever watched him should, I mean … You’ve got to stop C.J,” Hackett said.
So, if we’re lucky, we’re gonna see lot more of this in 2013:
