Biters and spitters were always considered the punks of the playground. You did what you had to do if you got into a scrap near the slide, swings or monkey bars, but those lines were never crossed. Did Ray Rice leap over that line in Sunday's clash between the Ravens and
? Well, maybe. Rice and Cleveland defensive tackle
got into each other's faces after the latter stuffed Ray for a 3-yard loss in the first quarter. After a couple seconds, Taylor whacked Rice on the side of the helmet, drawing a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. You can watch the sequence
. (H/T to NFL.com) If you look closely, it seems Rice does something right before Taylor smacks him. Did spit fly out of his mouth? "Look at the film, you will see ... I'm not going to say," Taylor told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "It is what it is. I need to keep my composure." However, Browns teammate D'Qwell Jackson wasn't as reticent with his comments. "I heard a guy scream he got spit on," Jackson said. "If guys are spitting, that's immature. That's elementary. We're all grown men. There's no need to spit on a guy. I don't know if it was Ray, but apparently someone got spit on." If Rice actually did spit on someone, that's completely bush league. It might sound funny in a sport where men are paid to bash each other's brains in, but there's no room for spit. That's just disgusting.
