News: Gresham may undergo back surgery Thursday, but he would still likely be ready for training camp, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
Impact: Gresham will meet with a doctor Wednesday, at which point the decision on surgery will presumably be made. The timing is unfortunate for the veteran tight end, and this explains why he hasn't yet found a home in free agency. A 2010 first-round pick, Gresham is arguably the biggest name still available at his position, but he doesn't offer great receiving skills, and now faces questions about his availability for training camp. He may end up settling for a one-year deal or a longer contract with very little guaranteed money. The Raiders and Browns are both thought to be in the market for a veteran tight end, while the Bills, Ravens, Saints and Falcons could also use help at the position. The Bengals are likely happy to move forward with Tyler Eifert following Gresham's up-and-down tenure in Cincinnati.

News: The Raiders are thought to be targeting Gresham in free agency, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: While the Raiders won't be in on either WR Randall Cobb or DT Ndamukong Suh, Gresham, who caught 62 passes for 460 yards with five TDs for the Bengals last season, would represent a nice boost to Oakland's TE corps, after a 2014 season in which the unit was hampered by injuries.
