Each week, the folks at EA Sports update the rosters for Madden 17 to keep the player ratings as close as possible to what's happening on the field. This week, that means a boost to the league's hottest rookie running back and a big decline for one of the lynchpins of the Bengals defense.
Rising: Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott
The rookie running back out of Ohio State has hit the ground running -- literally -- for the Cowboys. Through 5 games, he has 109 carries for 546 yards and 5 TDs. The league's rushing yardage leader gets a nifty two-point bump to 83 overall. One might argue he deserves to go even higher, considering he started the season with an 80 overall rating.
Falling: Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake
The veteran defender has just four tackles and one sack this season, yet had remained at 89 overall through the first five weeks. But in Week 6 he takes a hit, dropping three points to 86 overall.

Falling: Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict
Another key defender who also held an 89 overall rating, Burfict fell even further than Wake did -- dropping four points in Week 6. This one's a bit of a puzzler, though, as Burfict has only been back for two games and he had 10 tackles in his second game after only making three stops in the first.
Falling: San Francisco 49ers LT Joe Staley
His quarterback was sacked seven times in a loss to the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday night. He dropped three points to 84 overall and better hope he can keep Colin Kaepernick upright in his return.

Rising: Green Bay Packers C J.C. Tretter
Centers can go unnoticed -- until they screw up -- but Tretter has been a big part of a solid protection unit for Aaron Rodgers. The people at EA noticed, though, and rewarded Tretter with a five-point boost to 82 overall.

Falling: Houston Texans LT Duane Brown
He played his first game of the season last week, but failed to impress as the Texans allowed QB Brock Osweiler to be hit 13 times and sacked four against the Vikings. He falls three points to 83 overall.
Rising: Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne
The fifth-year corner has yet to give up a TD this season, which means it's high time for a ratings boost. He jumps three points to 80 overall, just in time for a matchup with the Packers.

Rising: Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates
The second-year man is having a breakout season, leading the league with 6 catches of 40+ yards, including a 72-yarder for his first touchdown on Sunday. He's rising slowly but surley, gaining another two points to boost his overall rating to 74.

Falling: New York Giants CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
You have to give him credit for playing through a groin injury against the Packers on Sunday despite the injury he first suffered in Week 3. But it's taking a toll on his ratings as he drops three points to 83 overall. Hopefully he can get healthy and turn it around.

Rising: Buffalo Bills LB Zach Brown
The NFL's leading tackler -- who only got the starting job after an injury to Reggie Ragland -- continues to soar up the Madden 17 charts, gaining three points after Week 5. He's now at 84 overall after starting the season 10 points lower.
