The 49ers may be losing their two starting cornerbacks to free agency. Culliver and Cox will likely land big deals somewhere, and will the 49ers spend big money? It's likely the 49ers will try to replace these guys through the draft as the market for cornerbacks is slim and expensive for the ones that are available.

The 49ers lacked a big-play threat all season and now will likely lose Crabtree to free agency. Recently the 49ers have not had a good history with picking wide receivers early in the draft, but that is the route they are likely to take this year. The NFL draft is stacked with wide receivers such as Kevin White and Amari Cooper.

Justin Smith is mulling retirement and would be a huge loss for the 49ers. Whether Smith comes back or not, they need a young guy to start filling those shoes. The 49ers struggled all year getting pressure on the QB and will need to address that issue this offseason, probably through the draft.

Frank Gore is a free agent and would be a big loss for the 49ers. Carlos Hyde showed some promise last season, but it's not clear whether he can carry a starter's workload. Kendall Hunter is coming off of an ACL injury, so it will be hard to count on him. There have been mentions of Adrian Peterson, but it is much more likely the 49ers draft a RB in hopes of developing him through their system.

Colin Kaepernick struggled mightily last season. Some believe this may be his last season in San Francisco to get it right. If that's the case, the 49ers need to put someone in place behind him to start learning the system and be ready to take over. They are also currently without a backup as Gabbert and Johnson are both free agents. The 49ers will look to address this need early in the offseason.
