Jovan Belcher reportedly murdered his girlfriend and committed suicide outside the Chiefs' team facility on Dec. 1. The four-year veteran came to Kansas City as an undrafted prospect out of Maine in 2009.
Belcher did play in 16 games as a rookie, with three starts, and compiled 48 tackles and a pass defensed.
Did his part
In 2009, Belcher took part in Operation Blessing, which helped to distribute groceries to people in need.
Belcher's playing time continued to increase. He started 15 games in 2010 and 16 in 2011, racking up 171 tackles and a sack over that time span.
Belcher continued to see a lot of playing time in 2012, as he started 10 games for the 1-9 Chiefs.
Belcher's last start came at home against Cincinnati on Nov. 18, when he had three total tackles.
