On Tuesday's episode of The Herd, Cris Carter opened his discussions with legendary coach Bill Parcells about Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett, whom Parcells believes has the potential to be an NFL star.
Colin Cowherd: Garoppolo is worth more to the Patriots than any draft pick
"I wouldn’t trade him. There’s no way I’d move him. I don’t want Cleveland’s No. 1 pick because I’ve never had won in New England, and I’ve won five Super Bowls without a No. 1 pick. I wouldn’t move him. What would you do?"

Cris Carter: Bill Parcells has a very high opinion of Jacoby Brissett
"I respect that, but this is the wild card I think that New England is dealing with. For the last couple years, there’s a guy who happens to be a friend of mine, his name is Bill Parcells. And he has mentored a guy by the name of Jacoby Brissett, who is the backup’s backup. He’s No. 3.
"He’s from the West Palm Beach area, they have a mutual friend. He went to Dwyer High School in West Palm Beach. Great basketball and football player. Went to Florida, was a five-star recruit. Had some complications in Florida, ended up transferring to N.C. State.
"Now Parcells believes this guy is a winner. He believes he is going to be a star in the NFL. And he’s been telling me this for a couple years.
"[Parcells] worked with him for the pre-draft camp, and if you hear some of the things he says, that he mentions… the people that he mentions him with. The type of player that he compares him to."

Cris Carter: The Patriots should trade Garoppolo and go all in on the final Brady years
"Curtis Martin, one of the most disciplined athletes that Bill’s ever coached. Willie McGinest, one of the most adjustable, team-oriented, great guys. Came from the ‘hood in L.A, developed into a team player after a great career at USC.
"Troy Brown, one of the great complementary players, played defense besides catching like 700 passes, won a few Super Bowls. And then Tedy Bruschi, who exemplifies what Bill Belichick and what Bill Parcells are trying to do from a team standpoint, from a mental standpoint, from a family standpoint. I don’t know how more complimentary - especially Parcells doesn’t give compliments to no one."
Cowherd: "What you’re saying is.. you like Garoppolo too, but we’re forgetting Brissett. Belichick may think ‘I’ve got my backup to Tom [already].’"
Carter: "Belichick knows. Bill [Parcells] wouldn’t be mentoring a guy who was just going to be kicking tires in the NFL. Parcells don’t have that kind of time. Now he’s all about developing people, but he’s about developing star players. At this stage of his life, he wouldn’t take on this assignment, and he doesn’t take on assignments without going full bore. So for me, it alerted my antennas. Watch out for Jacoby Brissett. So I would trade Garoppolo and take advantage of Tom’s three years."
