News: The 49ers have signed Pears to a two-year deal, ESPN.com reports.
Impact: Pears, who spent the past five seasons with the Bills, is a candidate to compete for the 49ers' starting left guard spot, in the wake of Mike Iupati's free agent departure. The 32-year-old lineman can also provide the team with depth at right tackle behind starter Anthony Davis.

News: The San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent offensive lineman Erik Pears to a two-year contract. The team announced the deal on Tuesday.
Impact: Pears spent the past five seasons in Buffalo and started all 16 games the past two years. Pears played right guard in 2014 and right tackle the previous year and will provide some needed versatility for a San Francisco line that lost starting left guard Mike Iupati in free agency.
