News: The Saints acquired two-time Pro Bowl center Max Unger and a first-round draft pick from the Seahawks in exchange for Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round pick, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Impact: There's no denying the loss of Graham will have an effect on Brees, as the All-Pro tight end averaged 89 catches, 11 touchdowns and 1100 yards per season over the last four years. But, it's not all doom and gloom. By adding Unger, the Saints helped to fortify an offensive line that struggled last season. According to NFL.com, the Saints' offensive line allowed 81 quarterbacks hits in 2014 and 75 QB hits in 2013, essentially all of which were on Brees, versus 59 QB hits in 2012 and 51 in 2011. Further, solidifying an aging interior line is of special importance for New Orleans, as Brees stands a mere 6-0. By shoring up the offensive line, it appears the Saints are betting that Brees made Graham, not the other way around.
