News: New England cut Cox on Saturday, ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss reports.
Impact: That Cox is already getting cut by New England, a team short on proven defensive back talent, probably does not reflect well on his remaining career prospects. He did not make an appearance during the 2014 season.

News: Cox signed with the Patriots on Monday.
Impact: Cox joins the Patriots after sitting out last season following two failed auditions with the Vikings and Ravens. Those setbacks came after Cox was released just one year into a four-year, $20 million contract he signed with the Chargers in 2013. Now looking to resurface in the league, Cox fills the Patriots' final available roster spot as he hopes to prove himself again this summer.
