News: Canty was released by the Ravens on Friday, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact: Canty's contract wasn't all that unreasonable, but he's not much more than a solid veteran, and the Ravens have some interesting young talent on the defensive line. Assuming the 10-year veteran doesn't re-sign with Baltimore, his absence should clear the way for Timmy Jernigan to join the starting lineup in 2015. With just 21.5 sacks in his 10 NFL seasons, Canty has never been much of an IDP producer.

News: The Ravens have released Canty, who played two seasons in Baltimore.
Impact: Canty was inactive for five games last season and had three games without a tackle. He finished with 33 tackles and a half-sack in 11 starts. The 32-year-old Canty intends to extend his 10-year NFL career. He says, "I am going to continue to prepare to play again and will explore other possibilities to play."

News: Canty is active Saturday for the Ravens.
Impact: Canty missed the regular season finale against Cleveland with an ankle injury.
