News: The Patriots have signed Gibson to a one-year deal worth $825,000, ESPN's Field Yates reports.
Impact: Gibson isn't a splashy addition to the Patriots' offense, but he'll bolster the team's wideout depth at an affordable rate. The 27-year-old is coming off a season in which he caught 29 passes for 295 yards and a TD in 14 games for the Dolphins.

News: Gibson was released by the Dolphins on Friday, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.
Impact: Gibson joins former teammate Brian Hartline, who was released by the Dolphins earlier in the day. With Mike Wallace's status with the team still in limbo, the only sure thing regarding Miami's receiving corps is that Jarvis Landry will have a significant role in 2015. Gibson played well as the Dolphins No. 3 wideout in 2013, before a torn patellar tendon ended his season early. He then struggled in 2014, producing just 5.8 yards per target on 51 looks. He may need to compete for a roster spot in training camp, depending on where he lands. The Dolphins are purging their roster of the players they unwisely overpaid in past seasons.
