News: Jones (ankle) had five catches on eight targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 29-7 loss at Baltimore.
Impact: Jones caught a 10-yard screen at one point, in which he broke several tackles and showed a good burst. He also had a 24-yard grab, but was otherwise silent. Meanwhile, Roddy White busted out for the first time this season, grabbing nine passes on 15 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown. Other than White, the entire Falcons' offense struggled, however, so we'll give Jones a mulligan. It might get tougher for him next week, facing a strong Lions' secondary, although the game will be on turf at home.
News: White had his best game of the season in Sunday's blowout loss at Baltimore, catching nine passes on a whopping 15 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Impact: With Julio Jones slightly hobbled due to an ankle injury, White finally had a breakout game. He provided the lone touchdown for the Falcons, as they struggled for most of the game. He'll have another tough matchup next week, taking on a strong Lions' secondary.
News: Smith had three carries for 10 yards and caught two passes on two targets for minus-one yard in Sunday's blowout loss at Baltimore.
Impact: For what seems like the first time in weeks, Smith failed to make an explosive play. It was a tough matchup for the entire Falcons' offense, however, as they struggled to move the ball, scoring just seven points. Also, Steven Jackson, Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers all were quiet, so it's not like Smith was outshined. It will be interesting to see how the distribution of carries will shake out the next time Atlanta has a close game.
News: Jackson had eight carries for 22 yards and caught the lone pass thrown his way for three yards in Sunday's 29-7 loss at Baltimore.
Impact: The entire Falcons' offense struggled, and they trailed 17-0 at halftime, limiting Jackson's opportunities in the running game. He once again led the team in rushing attempts, although the presence of rookie Devonta Freeman, speedster Antone Smith and reliable Jacquizz Rodgers limits Jackson's upside on a week-to-week basis.
News: Ryan completed 29-of-44 passes for 228 yards and one touchdown in Sunday's 29-7 loss at Baltimore. He also lost a fumble and was sacked five times.
Impact: Ryan and the entire offense had trouble moving the ball, although he wrecked one drive deep in Ravens' territory by fumbling. The Falcons lost another offensive lineman Sunday, and the sacks are starting to become a major issue. It was a tough matchup for Ryan on Sunday, however, but he's thrown just one touchdown in each of the last three games. He'll have another challenge next week, facing a stellar Lions' defense.
News: Hester (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
Impact: Hester was limited in practice all week, but he is presumably in better shape than he was when he only had one catch in Week 6. The big thing to know here is that Baltimore has said that they will not kick away from Hester this week, so he will get some chances to make a big play in the return game.
