News: Davis announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, ESPN reports.
Impact: Davis' retirement statement details his desire for time off from football for his brain and body to heal. As already one of the NFL's better offensive tackles at just 25 years old, Davis' retirement is certainly surprising, but it appears health concerns played a prominent role in his decision. In retiring, Davis joins Patrick Willis, Justin Smith and Chris Borland as key 49ers that have all decided to hang up their cleats this offseason.
